How To Stay Motivated To Reach Your Goals Now!

The answer to How to Stay Motivated To Reach Your Goals is extremely important.

For most of us, having proper goals is essential to success. Very few of us would dispute this fact.

Sometimes it seems we have more success throwing darts at a dartboard than hitting the bull’s eye on some of our most cherished and important goals.

When there is a lack of clarity we fail to focus on our goals.

Furthermore, whether it’s a personal or professional goal, the very first step towards achieving a goal is actually setting it.

The problem is a lot of people fail miserably at setting goals.

How To Motivate Yourself To Reach Your GoalsThe Trap of Being Average

Just as bad as having no goals at all are the wrong ones and goals that are vague, ill-defined, and not exciting enough.

After all, when you set a wrong goal, there’s a pretty good chance that you may realize that it’s the wrong one before you expend too much energy on it.

However, when you set a goal that’s uninspiring you may never experience genuine progress, for the simple reason, that it’s not motivating enough to get you moving forward.

How To Stay Motivated To Reach Your Goals Now!

Lack of progress could contribute to eroding your belief in your ability to achieve your goals. You start to seriously doubt yourself.

Most people aim too low and set themselves up to underachieve relative to their actual potential. To counteract this, the masses set goals that are average.

However, the problem with this is you might feel great when you accomplish the goal, but you’ll still be average.

Your life will be average.

The goals you accomplish will be average.

Your bank account will be average.

“Average” is a failing formula. It gets you nowhere.

You need to set goals that are 10 times bigger than the average and follow them with 10 times more action than you are taking today.

Goals like building a thriving affiliate marketing business online.

That’s how you see real-world results. That’s how you make it big.

Massive Action Overcomes Self-Limiting Beliefs

Extreme success lies beyond the realm of normal activities that most people are comfortable with.

If you want to achieve extreme success, you can’t operate like everybody else and settle for mediocrity.

Also, you need to understand that luck doesn’t exist and opportunities don’t just walk your way.

In order to achieve massive success you must take massive action.

The reason why we fail to reach our goals and higher levels of achievement is that many of us have thoughts and beliefs that work against us.

When you set goals, our limiting beliefs come into play.

Understand that EVERY TIME you try to improve yourself, these life-sucking limiting beliefs automatically kick in!

They dictate what feels right, what feels achievable, and ultimately, what you believe should be aiming for.

As you might imagine, these self-inflicted limitations do more harm than good.

However, what most people don’t realize is holding on to limiting beliefs will even affect you physically.

The more you mentally reinforce them, the more pronounced the effect on your body.

What are some physical effects of holding on to limiting beliefs?

Slouching when you walk.

Looking at the ground when you walk.

Obesity due to poor self-image. Repeated fixation with a specific body part.

Other clues to limiting beliefs: consistent agitation, always willing to settle for less, letting other people make decisions for you,

Also, you start blaming others for the mistakes you make, and develop a quick temper, along with uncontrolled anxiety.

Soon comes indecisiveness and regularly experiencing depression.

What Do You Say When You Talk To Yourself?

Also, another very important clue is the way you talk about yourself to other people and the way you talk to yourself.

When you talk to yourself, what is the tone of your speech like? Are your thoughts and comments mostly negative?

The bottom line is this: If you experience any struggle, any feelings of stagnation, hopelessness, boredom, or lack of enthusiasm, it points to harboring self-limiting beliefs in those areas of your life.

However, as you dig deep as to why you believe something about yourself, you’ll see that most of your beliefs are based on what other people said.

Here’s an undisputed fact: Many self-limiting beliefs are based on the opinions of other people along with their own limitations.

They are not YOUR limitations – don’t adopt other people’s opinions or so-called facts about you that aren’t true.

Start to identify the thoughts that make you feel physically, emotionally, and mentally uncomfortable.

For example, at one time the thought of building my own online business made me feel emotionally and mentally uncomfortable.

However, after reading how others like myself were able to overcome their fears and succeed with their own online businesses, it gave me the desire to follow in their footsteps.

What I did was identify WHY I felt that way and overcome those negative beliefs.

Make a strong, concentrated effort to dig into your past to discover why you feel a certain way about yourself.

Once you’ve identified the erroneous belief you can release it – let it go.

Talk to yourself and say to yourself: ” just as easily as I picked up this belief and adopted it as fact, I can just as easily let go of it, release it from having a hold on me.”

Use Personal Development to Reprogram Your Mind

Taking massive action is the only way to release negative beliefs that prevent us from reaching our goals. This is where personal development comes in.

The ONLY way to release negative beliefs is by reprogramming your mind.

Committing to intense self-reprogramming will change you into a better version of yourself.

Reprogramming your mind will help you to learn how to motivate yourself to reach your goals.

The term Personal Development is often used but rarely explained. It is about investing time in yourself so that you can manage yourself effectively regardless of what life will your way.

Personal development allows you to be proactive instead of feeling helpless and victimized.

You don’t wait for good things to happen, you get out there and make them happen.

Here is the truth: Failure is a necessary step toward success.

Thousands of businesses and companies would not be where they are today without experiencing painful, massive failure.

Failure will push you to create, find solutions, and overcome obstacles.

Sometimes, you MUST experience failure in order to realize what you need to change and get better; you must bet on your own strengths, NOT the strengths of others.

It’s called failing forward.

Making an unreserved commitment to yourself, to personal development, is the first step on the path to the exquisite joy of reaching and exceeding your goals in life.

You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don’t try to forget the mistakes, but you don’t dwell on it. You don’t let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.”

How To Stay Motivated To Reach Your Goals: Now Is The Time

Some years ago I heard a statement that had profound meaning for me.

A personal development author wrote:

“No one is coming to rescue you. You must participate in your own financial rescue!”

That statement is absolutely true!

This is NOT a dress rehearsal. We only get ONE life! We have ONE opportunity to get this right…So get it right!

Through the decades, personal development is a concept that has met with much criticism from individuals who misunderstand it.

It is all about taking the time and making the commitment to invest in your greatest resource – you.

Unbelievable rewards and joy come when you learn how to motivate yourself to reach your goals.

Make the effort to develop yourself.

Also, I would encourage you to learn how to leverage the power of the internet for your own financial gain.

Many so-called realists are put off by personal development because the results are not always measurable by their haphazard standards.

Make no mistake about this: the greatest achievers in life know that the key to success is the ability to manage themselves in a variety of situations.

The ONLY way to learn that ability is through personal development.

  1. Hello Howard,

    Having goals is essential.

I have experienced both as a student and as a coach many personal development training modules.

Your comments about being average reminded me of this one module.

We were asking students to share their goals and we were hearing many comments such as “I want to be the best Mom in the world” or “I want to be the best friend in the world”…

Well for me that is very average and an absolute minimum standard…

Shouldn’t everyone want to be the best mom, dad, brother, friend, etc in the world?

One of the questions we asked our students was:

“If you were your son / daughter / wife / husband / customer / friend / you name it…

Would you want to be that son / daughter / wife / husband / customer / friend ?”

When students reflected on that initially they would say YES, but upon further probing, many revealed they fell far short of what they should be doing.

It is a very interesting question that I ask of myself on a regular basis…

Goal setting helps us become the person other people deserve us to be.

It helps us be the best version of us we can be.

Anyone who helps others do that is an amazing person.

Congratulations on an excellent thought article and I hope you continue to inspire many with your words.

  3. I really did enjoy reading the article.

I have always wondering what I was doing wrong? The thing is, I did set my goal and then never achieved it.

I always hoped that it will come towards me. Call me naïve. Lol.

It doesn’t work that way. I realized that just recently and your article just underlines it.

Thank you for explaining the procedure of setting goals. The importance of setting goal Is clear, but how to actually set the goal – what procedures we need to take, what kind of thoughts we need to activate is a different story. I am glad I found this post.

Again, many thanks for your great post. It definitely made my day 🙂

  4. Great post.

Completely agree when you wrote: “Most people aim too low and set themselves up to underachieve relative to their actual potential. To counteract this, the masses set goals that are average”.

Extreme success lies beyond the realm of normal action that most people are comfortable with. If you want to achieve extreme success, you can’t operate like everybody else and settle for mediocrity. that statement is so full of truth and a reason that most I believe are scared of it. The thoughts of what does above avaerage look like with the goals each person sets? What does not behaving and operating like an average goal setter really look like?

If we could turn those fears around and instead see those questions and exciting and motivating, what could be accomplished then?

Great post. I found it very inspiring, motivating and encouraging.
