Stampin’ Up Review – Can You Stamp Your Way To Profits?

This Stampin’ Up Review will tell you all you need to know about Stampin Up. Once you are done reading, you can tell if you can make money with this platform. Ensure you read carefully not to miss out on any useful information.

About Stampin’ Up

Stamping Up is an multi-level marketing company created in 1988 by Shelli Gardner and his sister. They produce home décor, crafting projects, and handmade cards. The company headquarters is in Riverton, Utah.

Stampin Up products are available in the United States, Europe, Canada, France, Australia, and New Zealand, with more than 40,000 demonstrators. The company has had unstable revenue in the past—they reported revenue of $165 million in 2015. In 2018, it dropped to $125 million, and it increased slightly to $127 million in 2019.

Stampin’ Up Review – Are Their Products Worth Their Price?

Stampin' Up Review - Can You Stamp Your Way To Profits?

They have lots of products you can select from. You can purchase kits for occasions and holidays. You can also purchase products by colors and pick specific tools to aid their papercrafts. The kits contain many items, and you can get it for $35.

It is more expensive when you purchase items individually. Well, you will find most of their products in most local craft stores for a lesser price. I did a price comparison of a simple product with another platform. On their site, the Stampin Up Jet Black Stazon Ink Pad costs $10.

On Amazon, I saw a similar product going for $7.75. The difference is not that huge, but it could make a difference if you should consider shipping and handling charges. Generally, the products appear to be competitively priced.

Stampin’ Up Review – About The Stampin Up MLM Opportunity

Demonstrators on the platform are tasked to sell stationery kits and products; they do this through demonstrations, workshops, and parties. The issue here is that customers can bypass you and order products directly from the website. Customers can even order products without a sponsor.

If you are smart, you can earn by selling homemade cards made by you. There are also advancement options for members. Besides commissions, you can make money through performance bonuses and team commissions.

Registration Costs

With Stampin Up, you need a sponsor to start. You will be assigned a sponsor if you don’t have one. You will pay $315 for the starter kit. You will be given products worth $165 that you can select for yourself and business supplies. I don’t think you will be given a website, so expect sales to come from parties and workshops. Don’t forget, customers can also place their orders online.

Earning Opportunity

To earn as a Demonstrator, you will have to host stationary parties. The platform has 8 levels, starting with Bronze. Your sales volume, as well as the number of people you recruit, will determine how you advance. Anybody you recruit will be placed in your downline, and you will receive 20% – 25% as commission on sales of the product.

The platform has different Commissionable Sales Volume (CSV) factors based on when you reside. Every country has different CSV factors. The CSV factor for the United States is one, so there is no need for calculation.

Stampin’ Up Review – Let Us Do Some Math

To qualify for commissions, you need a quarterly minimum of 300 USD. That’s equivalent to $100 USD in product sales every month. If 20% of your earnings is your commission rate, you will earn $20 every month since the CSV factor is 1.

Stampin’ Up Review – Pros and Cons

Pros

Different products to choose from – There are a lot of products in the Stampin Up catalog to select from, and most of their products are reasonably priced. It’s costlier when you purchase items individually.

Low Sales Minimum – you qualify for commissions if you can sell products worth $100 a month. To maintain your status, you will have to sell products worth $300 each quarter.

Fewer complaints – Only two complaints have been recorded against the platform on the BBB (Better Business Bureau). One complaint was from a customer trying to cancel an order, and the other was on conflict of interest.

Cons

No Real Customer Incentive – You can get a few clients when you host workshops and parties, but they are not mandated to purchase items from you. They can decide to order straight from the website.

Be mindful of conflict of interest – You can only sell products through parties, workshops, and demos. If you want to use a blog to promote craft products, you can only promote Stampin Up products. It is against policy to have products from other competitors on your blog.

Set up your own website – the starter kit you purchase does not come with a website. You can create a site for yourself if you know how to, or you can hire someone to do so. But it will cost you more since you will have to pay for hosting, domain name, and other website fees.

Is Stampin Up Legit?

Stampin Up is a legit MLM platform. You only earn commissions no matter the effort and time you put into it. However, the fact that customers can bypass you and purchase products from the site directly is a problem. Imagine the time and money you will spend to host parties and workshops, and in the end, the customers choose to order online.

That has happened to many Stampin Up representatives, and unfortunately there’s not much you can do. Why spend time organizing workshops with people who might not buy from you right away. If they don’t purchase from you and decide to order from the site without using your Demonstrator code, you won’t receive commissions on the items they purchase. Stampin’ Up is similar to other legit multi-level marketing opportunities I’ve reviewed on this blog such as:

As A MLM, Is Stampin’ Up Any Diffrent Than The Rest?

The answer to that question depends on who you ask. The biggest problem with multi-level marketing companies like Stampin’ Up is that you are at the mercy of the company and its products. If you don’t get good support from the company, there is a possibility that you will not succeed.

The minute your team starts quitting, it’s the beginning of the end of whatever success you’ve managed to achieve. People enjoy the idea of multi-level marketing because they think that all they have to do is sell products. In reality, it’s much more than that. Your first clue is the amount of money you have to invest before you sell your first product.

  1. Thanks for sharing this review of stampin’ up.

I had a family member who got really big into stamping projects about 20-30 years ago.

She was able to create some beautiful designs with the supplies, and she really enjoyed the social aspect of going to stamping parties, but the market didn’t seem to be big enough even in its heyday for someone to earn a real living from it.

Plus the MLM aspect of the whole thing is a huge red flag – I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Hello Aly,

Great comments here. Yes, you are correct that this is a business it would be very difficult to make a full-time living from.

All the more reason to build your own online presence!

Thank You for taking the time to read this post.

  2. Engaging in business is you have to spend an investment or start-up capital.

You have to think hard about what really is your passion or your niche so you will not have to start all over again.

By engaging in the Wealthy Affiliate training you can discern what business niche you are leading into as the training progresses.

Networking marketing and multi-level-marketing is a sketchy proposition these days and I would think twice before participating.

    1. Thank You for your comments, Theresa.

Personally, I find multi-level marketing to be a bad business model and not one to engage in, especially in the time we are living in with the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, even without the pandemic, multi-level marketing is still a business I would not recommend.
