Making Money Online Scams – Are You Being Lied To?
When it comes to Making Money Online Scams, there are several red flags you MUST be aware of.
It’s not hard at all if you know what to look for.
- Earnings screenshots
- One-on-one personal coaching
- Fake testimonials
Below are the Warning Signs of a Scam. Pay close attention!
Making Money Online Scams: Earnings Screenshots
Earnings screenshots are one of the biggest indicators that the online “expert” is a fake.
Scammers post FAKE screenshots of earnings to have you believe the platform in question actually makes money!
Therefore, how on earth are you to know if this person is telling the truth?
Even if the earnings screenshots are real, they may be from another product
Think about this: How would you know if the earnings screenshots are fake or not?
YOU DON’T KNOW!
This type of deception seems to be very common in the internet marketing scene nowadays.
Get the best screenshot you can find showing really great earnings and use the screenshot for an entirely unrelated product
Even if the earnings screenshot was for a similar product, it would still be wrong!
How You Should View Earnings Screenshots
Online scammers have no shame!
If you see an income screenshot – IGNORE IT!
Just flat-out ignore it.
In reality, the earnings screenshot proves nothing.
The scammer trying to sell you know that income screenshots and videos make you more likely to part ways with your hard-earned money.
Consequently, it’s no one’s business what you make.
Moreover, if you can’t sell a product without a screenshot, whether it’s fake or if it’s real, then you shouldn’t be in the “make money online” niche, or perhaps any niche at all.
Your sales copy is probably so weak that the fake earnings screenshot is the only thing holding it up!
Today there is a lot of legit business making outstanding money online.
If you’re looking to learn the right and honest way of making money online, do the necessary research and find the right program that can teach you, a program like Wealthy Affiliate.

Bogus Personal Coaching
One-on-one personal coaching: This is also another tool scammers use effectively.
Once the “online guru” you wanted one on one sessions with has your money, you rarely, if ever, get what you thought you paid for.
You wanted real, actual “one on one” coaching with the ACTUAL “guru”, the guy on the long-form sales letter – that guy!
Truth be told, you never hear from the dude again, but from his so-called “assistant.”
And IF you manage to hear from the “online guru”, it’s a brief statement or two and then – you guessed it – it’s back to his assistant.
I actually tried this years ago with a well-known “online marketing coach” at the tune of a couple of thousand hard-earned dollars.
What I originally signed up for was to learn affiliate marketing. That’s what I paid for.
Instead, he changed the format of his platform to teach people how to sell solo ads.
I didn’t want to sell solo ads! THAT’S NOT WHAT I SIGNED UP FOR!
By the way, I never did learn affiliate marketing from this guy, nor did I become a solo-ads salesman.
My Solution To The “Coaching” Question
One solution to this “coaching” fiasco that works is a platform with both easy-to-follow sections and over-the-shoulder videos.
When you add those two factors together it brings real, lasting, positive results on a consistent basis.
The bottom line is this: If a platform is well structured with plenty “over the shoulder” videos to follow for each step, with EASY instructions and IMMEDIATE support if you get stuck, then YOU DON’T NEED A COACH!
Wealthy Affiliate has just an online community that you can tap into whenever you’re stuck, confused, or just need motivation.
It’s worked for me and I certainly invite you to come and be a part of a community of people who really want you to succeed.
“For 7 years I’ve been trying to learn how to make money online. I’ve failed and failed and failed. I got so discouraged at one point that I didn’t turn on my laptop for 6 months!
I stumbled onto the Wealthy Affiliate platform through a Google search and reluctantly gave it a try.
It’s the BEST THING that I ever done on the internet! Now my long-time dream of making money online is finally coming true! Thank You, Wealthy Affiliate!”

Watch Out For Fake Testimonials
Fake Testimonials: I’ve had personal experience with this because the “online guru” I mentioned earlier actually gave me instructions on how to get believable, fake testimonials.
He told me to go to his members-only Facebook page and post that I am with (cannot give real name) mentoring group and I need 10 testimonials.
I did exactly what he told me and in a couple of days, I got 10 really believable fake testimonials from people I’ve never met before.
What’s worse, the testimonials were for an eBook I wrote THAT NONE OF THEM HAD EVER READ!
When you looked at the final result of the
But the testimonials were not honest. It was all untrue.
The brutality of the online marketing world is nothing less than shocking.
These types of shenanigans happen far too often than people realize.
When money, money, and more money is the only thing that matters, you’ll do anything to make a buck.
These “snake oil salesmen” know that there will always be a ready pool of hapless, clueless, “newbies” they can pick off and separate from their hard-earned money.
The Plague of Fake Testimonials
The practice of purposely buying fake testimonials happens over and over and over again because people are unethical and don’t care!
A large number of programs that I review on this very blog I expose the practice of hiring FAKE testimonials and spokespersons for garbage products that do not work
So regarding
Who are the marketers doing the exposing? Who are the ones willing to talk about it, and who are the ones that ignore it?
If there are marketers avoiding this issue and are unwilling to talk frankly about it, then look out!
They’re probably are the ones involved in online shenanigans!
Here are other examples of make-money online programs that use fake testimonials:

Please don’t get me wrong: there’s excellent money to be made in internet marketing, both now and in years to come,
In order not to get taken advantage of, YOU MUST KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!

Hi Spinney,
Thanks for writing this post regarding scams. I do respect your point of views and I do believe about your opinions in making money online as well as elaborating about the importance of coaching. However, I just would like to note that providing screenshots will also prove and give evidences about earnings. Actually, I am using screenshot in to show readers about some of my earnings related to drop shipping (not to boast but just to show proof). Have a great day. Regards, BA
Hey BA,
Thank you for the reply!
Look…I can appreciate that screenshots CAN give evidences of earnings. The reality in the internet marking world is that most times earnings screenshots of PayPal accounts, Clickbank earnings, bank statements and so on, can and have been faked to give the marketer credibility. If you see a dude making money, YOU want to make what dude is making!

I have been duped by a lot of scams and I can tell you that I fell exactly for those (fake) big number from those screenshots.
I have learned a lot from your post and will be sharing this with my family so they know exactly how to spot a scam online and to avoid losing their money unnecessarily while the the scammer keeps getting rich.

I have seen so many of these 3 things recently in my search for making money online. The fake screen shots and the testimonials. Everyone seems to have them.
I did not know that you could get testimonials so easy or that you can pay people for them.
Wealthy Affiliate sounds like an interesting option. You say I can join for free but can you be upfront and tell me what upsells I will find once I have joined ?
Karen
Hello Karen,
The best part about Wealthy Affiliate is there are NO up-sells. Really. I pay $49 a month for my premium membership, which includes all of the “bells and whistles” needed to learn affiliate marketing. When you sign up, you aren’t taken to a bunch of sales funnels telling you that if you want to be successful online get this up-sell, or buy that up-sell…None of that garbage.
I hope you think seriously about joining. One of the best decisions I’ve made.
